Blizzard Entertainment shared a new quarterly update on Diablo 4. The prior quarterly update focused on the audio design of the game, as well as introducing Joe Shely, the new game director after the prior director was let go from Blizzard Entertainment. In this update, the team went over more information on how Legendary items and endgame progression function in Diablo 4.
In Diablo 4, the +Skill Rank affix returns, meaning items can be great way to buff various skills and improve different builds. Players can also transfer the essence from Legendary items, so if you find a Legendary item with a bonus you want, it can be transferred to a new item through a character called the Occultist.
Additionally, Diablo 4 is introducing something called the Paragon Board for endgame builds. A character unlocks the Paragon Board at Level 50 and then starts unlocking Paragon Points that can be used to purchase various tiles. You can see an example of these tiles below.
Diablo 4, like Blizzard Entertainment’s upcoming shooter Overwatch 2, does not currently have a release date or release window. The games won’t be arriving in 2022 however, as Activision Blizzard confirmed that the two games have been delayed. Meanwhile, Blizzard co-lead Jen Oneal departed the company in the wake of the ongoing Activision Blizzard lawsuit, as Oneal reportedly expressed a lack of faith in the company.
