Highlights from what’s new on Netflix
Inventing Anna (February 11)
Based on the explosive New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler, Netflix’s new miniseries explores the nearly unbelievable story of Anna Delvey. Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, posed as a German heiress and became famous on Instagram, infiltrating New York’s social scene and spending a lot of other people’s money. The series chronicles Delvey’s rise and fall, asking whether she was just a run-of-the-mill con woman, or whether she played by the warped rules of the American Dream — and did it well.
Starring Ozark’s Julia Garner and produced by TV superstar Shonda Rhimes, Inventing Anna is one of the most highly anticipated Netflix originals, and one of the most exciting entries in our “new on Netflix” list.
Tall Girl 2 (February 11)
Fans of Tall Girl will be pleased to have a chance to check back in with Jodi after her rousing homecoming speech at the end of the 2019 Netflix original film.
With newfound confidence, Jodi has to juggle her new and old friendships. She’s popular, confident, has a boyfriend, and even scored the lead role in this year’s school musical. Still, with all of that change comes new challenges and insecurities. She may not just be the “tall girl” anymore, but Jodi has to decide what comes next.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (February 18)
Horror fans, rejoice! Leatherface is back! Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a back-to-basics approach and a direct sequel to the 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. After 50 years in hiding, the iconic horror baddie returns to terrorize a group of young travelers who stumble upon (and disrupt) his quiet life.
The new slasher, a Netflix exclusive, is co-written by Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues and directed by David Blue Garcia. It’s not the first sequel to the genre-defining film, but it looks like an exciting new chapter in the storied franchise.
Vikings: Valhalla (February 25)
Set in the 11th century, Vikings: Valhalla tells the story of famous Vikings of history. The series will explore tensions between the Vikings and the English royals, with the Vikings seeking revenge after the St. Brice’s Day Massacre, in which King Aethelred II orders all Danes on his lands killed. Meanwhile, the Vikings also face internal clashes over their Christian and pagan beliefs.
Vikings: Valhalla is a continuation of the History Channel series Vikings, which ran from 2013 to 2021. It is set over 100 years after the events of Vikings. It covers different characters in new parts of the world during a new historical period.
