Microsoft’s OneDrive web app can now be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and other web browsers. Installing the web version of OneDrive as a PWA lets users open the service in its own window without the browser UI, providing a more app-like experience on PCs.
Microsoft announced earlier this year that it was turning OneDrive into a Progressive Web App, and both the consumer and business versions of the cloud storage service can now be installed as a PWA. To do so in Microsoft Edge, you just need to click the icon in the right corner of the address bar.

While installing OneDrive as a PWA won’t bring any new features, it does allow Windows users to pin it to their Taskbar or Start Menu, or even launch it automatically when their PC turns on. Windows 10 PCs still ship with a built-in OneDrive sync client that provides access to OneDrive files in File Explorer, and there’s also a separate OneDrive app in the Microsoft Store that provides the same functionality as the PWA.
