Windows Insiders to get Windows Subsystem for Android update

Windows Subsystem for Android, the emulation layer that allows Windows 11 users to run Android apps, officially coming from the Amazon App Store, is being updated and is shipping to all Windows 11 Insiders in all channels (that is, if you’re in the US).

The biggest change to the subsystem is “a huge change” to networking. The update is introducing Advanced Networking, which “enables app access to local network devices for ARM computers, allowing apps to take advantage of this functionality.” In addition, IPv6 and VPN connectivity are also being enabled (although be forewarned, some VPNs may not work with Advanced Networking).

The Settings App for Windows Subsystem for Android has been updated to provide for Advanced Networking settings, and “(t)his means the IP address has been removed from the Developer section in the Settings app as the subsystem no longer has a different IP from your computer.”

There’s a list of fixes and improvements, be sure to check out the Windows blog post for more.
