Disney Plus Day takes place on November 12.

New programming will be available on that date exclusively on Disney Plus, so the main “event” will take place there.

Beyond streaming, attendees to Disney-owned in-person attractions will also get exclusive access to other Disney Plus Day events. But Disney hasn’t specified what those events will entail. Attendees at Disney Parks and Resorts around the world and the Disney Cruise Line, as well as customers shopping at shopDisney.com, can expect some deals and surprises though.

What new content will be released on Disney Plus Day?

On the streaming side, Disney has confirmed a few new programs and specials which will roll out on Disney Plus exclusively starting on November 12, to coincide with Disney Plus Day.

Theatrical releases moving to streaming

Jungle Cruise Disney Plus Day

On Disney Plus Day, Jungle Cruise will be available to subscribers without the additional fee. In addition, Marvel’s Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings will move to Disney Plus. Shang-Chi was notably released exclusively in theatres. That exclusive window likely helped it beat all-time Labor Day weekend box-office records even despite the ongoing pandemic.

Disney Plus International

Dopesick on Hulu and Disney Plus Star

Disney will launch its highly-anticipated Hulu series Dopesick on Disney Plus Day in international markets too.

The international imprint Disney Plus Star, which includes titles from Disney’s 20th Century Studios, FX, Hulu, ABC, and more will be home to the drug overdose-centric prestige series starring Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, Peter Sarsgaard, Kaitlyn Dever, Will Poulter, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

What else can we expect?

Hawkeye on Disney Plus

In addition to confirmed new content offerings, Disney promises that Disney Plus Day “will include breaking news, first looks, new trailers, exclusive clips, and appearances from Disney+ creators and stars.”

Last year’s Disney Investor Day saw a huge number of projects announced across all of the Disney brands. This included feature films as well as new series exclusive to Disney Plus.

Some projects had already been announced, so we just got new trailers. This included a first look at Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, among many others. Some projects, though, were complete surprises, like the Star Wars series Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic, or a new FX series set in the Alien universe.

It’s unclear whether we’ll get announcements of this magnitude on Disney Plus Day. But it would be a fitting time for Disney to unveil first looks at one of those new Star Wars shows. Or maybe tease details about the many upcoming Marvel series.

We’ll have to wait and see what Disney has in store on November 12. But safe money is on the House of Mouse wanting to hold onto a few big surprises.
