Week 39 in review: Xiaomi 13T is here, iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating

As the new iPhones shipped out to buyers and reviews went live, some things became apparent about the new iPhones. The Pro Max has one hell of a camera – it ranked second on DxOMark’s chart (a huge leap for an iPhone, historically), and the Pro models seem to struggle to cool down the A17 Pro chipset. According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s survey, Apple made compromises to the cooling system, reduced the cooling area, and by choosing titanium over steel, made the Pro models harder to cool. Apple will address the issue via software updates.

The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro’s prices for the States and UK surfaced. Expect £699/$699 for the 8 and £999/$899 for the 8 Pro. The Pixel Watch 2 will cost £349.

Xiaomi unleashed the 13T series. Both the 13T and 13T Pro have triple cameras with a dedicated 2x zoom, a 144Hz-ready 6.67-inch display, and 5,000mAh batteries. The Pro adds 120W charging, and a faster Dimensity 9200+ chip, while the 13T sticks to 67W and a Dimensity 8200. The 13T starts from €650, while the 13T Pro starts from €800.
