Stockless non-launch of the RTX 2060 12GB edition will improve by January, according to report

The surprise re-release of the NVIDIA RTX 2060 GPU made a splash in the news, although the media blitz was bereft of a particular detail usually prevalent in launches (and re-launches) of the best graphics cards: Purchase links. Though the RTX 2060 12GB edition “launched” on December 7, people being unable to buy it meant, in a lot of ways, that it never really launched. Apparently NVIDIA’s partners will be better equipped to get the phantom card out to interested parties either later in December or January, if a recent report pans out.

According to PC Gamer, NVIDIA anticipates “partner card availability to ramp starting the end of December through January.” Since this card is being exclusively distributed by partners and there’s no founders edition, it’s up to the likes of Zotac, Asus, and co. to bring the fresh 2060 to market.

To put this whole situation into context, not only did the RTX 2060 12GB launch without stock available at major retailers, but we don’t even know the price of it, post-launch. We are at a stage in the global chip shortage where graphics cards can launch without launching or even publicizing basic details about themselves.

As soon as the RTX 2060 dares to show itself in a buyable capacity, we’ll be sure to update our coverage. Until then, stay tuned for more potential release-less re-releases of old cards.
