Want to see Paint in dark mode? We’ve got some good news.
Microsoft has announced that it is rolling out an update to the Paint app for Windows 11 that includes support for dark mode. The update also includes improvements to the zoom controls and other usability features.
After previously arriving in Canary and Dev channels back in June, those in the Beta channel can start accessing this feature beginning version 11.2304.26.0.
The new dark mode setting in Paint can be enabled by going to Settings > Personalization > Colors and selecting Dark under Choose your default app mode. Once dark mode is enabled, Paint will automatically switch to a dark theme.
Additionally, the update brings enhancements to the zoom controls. While the classic zoom presets remain unchanged, users now can zoom in and out with more precise increments using the zoom slider. Furthermore, users can set a custom zoom value for even greater accuracy. The introduction of a new “fit to screen” option allows for quick optimization of the zoom level to align with the window size.
In addition to the dark mode and zoom improvements, the update also includes a number of other usability improvements. The “Image Properties” dialogs have been updated to match the style of the new Windows 11 design, and access key and keyboard shortcut support have been improved throughout the app.
