Motorola Edge 40 Pro announced for Europe

TL;DR

  • The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is confirmed to come to Europe and Latin America.
  • A premium flagship, the new Edge sports a formidable spec sheet.
  • It starts at €899.99 (~$982) and could appear in North America this year.

Motorola fans have been on a rollercoaster over the past few years. The company has courted and abandoned the premium flagship market a few times already, with only its mid-range and budget portfolios staying constant. However, with a new Edge device launching today, it appears Moto is sticking with the premium market for good.

The new Motorola Edge 40 Pro is basically as premium as Moto gets. It has the flagship 2023 Android silicon in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It has a decent rear camera system with main, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses. There’s also a sizable battery that charges at an incredibly fast speed, a display with a fluid refresh rate, and a full IP68 rating.

The big question, though, is whether or not this device will come to the United States. So far, Motorola is being coy with this information. See more on this after the spec sheet!

Pricing and availability

Today, Motorola confirmed that the Edge 40 Pro is coming to Europe at a price of €899.99 (~$982). It will hit store shelves across the continent in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Motorola also confirmed that Latin American countries would see the Edge 40 Pro in the coming weeks. However, the company did not give anything more specific than that or divulge LATAM pricing.

What about those loyal Moto fans in the United States, Canada, and Mexico? Motorola didn’t specifically say anything about a North American release for the Edge 40 Pro, but it did say this:

With the exciting announcement of Motorola Edge 40 Pro in Europe and LATAM, Motorola is reinforcing its commitment to bringing premium smartphone experiences to the hands of more consumers. Today, Motorola is also excited to share its commitment to expand the Edge family in North America this year.

Obviously, that isn’t an announcement that the Edge 40 Pro would come to North America. However, it sure sounds like some Edge device is coming soon, and it’s not unreasonable to assume it could be this phone (or something like it).
