Microsoft Planner to add support for rich text and images in task notes

Microsoft is getting ready to add support for rich text and images to task notes in Planner, its Trello alternative for Microsoft 365 customers. This Microsoft Planner update will enable users to insert bold, italicized, or underlined text and images into task notes in order to highlight important details.

“If a user chooses to insert images in the rich text task notes field, a preview of the image will appear in the task notes field. They can continue using task notes as they do today but gain the ability to insert rich text and view image previews in task notes if desired (for Planner experiences which support it),” the company explained on the Microsoft 365 admin center.

This feature will begin rolling out to Planner for the Web and the Tasks app in Teams in December, according to the Microsoft 365 admin center. The company also plans to bring rich text support to other Planner experiences, including the iOS and Android mobile apps, in a future update. In case you missed it, Microsoft Planner has recently received a new feature that lets users move tasks to any of their plans.
