MCC goes medieval with new “Mythic” Season 8

If we’re now just two months away from the release of Halo Infinite on Xbox and PC, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is getting another free content update today with the new Season 8: Mythic. The main theme of this new season is ancient warriors, and there are some really cool armor sets, back accessories, vehicle skins, techsuits, and more to unlock in the game.

“Perfecting your Spartan’s look is a task that’s always ongoing. And, while you’ve had your pick of a great many different armor sets from across Halo’s history, we’re adding in some new flair with sets inspired by ancient warriors from across the ages. And, with the addition of the Belos (for those that want to inspire looks drawn from ancient Rome), Blackguard (for those of you that might feel more at home during the Dark Ages), and Drengr (for the Spartans that prefer to pledge their allegiance to Norse gods), you’ll be prepared for any battleground,” the team explained.

Today’s update also brings a new map for Halo 3 named “Icebox”, new customization options for Halo 3: ODST Firefight, as well as custom game browser support for Halo: CE and Halo 3. The PC version of the game has also gained mod support for Halo 2: Classic and Halo 3, as well as Steam account linking in the player profile menu. You can also expect performance updates across MCC games on Xbox and PC, and you can find more details in the full release notes on the Halo Support website.

The Season 8 marks the end of seasonal updates for Halo: MCC, as 343 Industries plans to release smaller updates for the Halo anthology starting next year. “We still have a lot of goodness to deliver in 2022,” 343 Industries said last month, but the upcoming Halo Infinite will be the studio’s main priority going forward.
