Camera App Obscura 4 Arrives With iPad Support, Simplified Settings

The updated app has been completely rebuilt to provide a faster and more intuitive photography experience.

Highlighting the new version is iPad support. The camera controls are similar to what’s found on the iPhone version and the Library features a sidebar to easily navigate albums. On the image detail view, you will also show the rating controls to make it easy to sort through photos.

Thanks to iPad keyboard support, you can also easily navigate the app and rate photos.

On both the iPhone and iPad, a new sharing interface will appear when exporting images in multiple formats. That will allow you to choose whether to export the original file or edited version, making it perfect for RAW users.

There is also a number of interface changes to make the app easier to use. The Exposure Dial now adjusts in 1/3 stop increments, just like a traditional camera. A haptic can also help you feel when you’re changing the stop.

A new dedicated button will allow quick access for the Library. And in the interface has also been improved so you will see recent photos. You can still quickly access Favorites.

Quick Settings have also been made easer to understand with clear labels and system menus with descriptive labels.

Obscura 4 is for the iPhone, all iPad models, and Apple Watch. It’s a free download on the App Store now.

A Obscura Ultra subscription is required to unlock all the features of the app. A subscription is $9.99 per year. Until Sept. 11, there is an introductory price of $7.99.

Obscura 3 users won’t lose any access to features that they have previously paid for. They can upgrade to the subscription option for $4.99 for the first year.

Subscribers will be able unlock live photo capture, video recording, RAW and ProRAW capture, 48-megapixel capture and much more.
