Android 12-based ColorOS 12’s global launch set for October 11

Yesterday Google announced the official release of Android 12, and soon after, Oppo announced it will globally launch Android 12-based ColorOS 12 next week – on October 11.

That means Oppo will introduce the global ROM of ColorOS 12 next Monday, which should be slightly different from the version announced in China last month and is already available for some Chinese Oppo and OnePlus units.

Oppo hasn’t detailed the ColorOS 12 global ROM’s rollout timeline yet, but the company is accepting applications for the Find X3 Pro‘s ColorOS 12 beta version in Malaysia and Indonesia.

If you live in any of these countries and own the Find X3 Pro, you can participate by navigating to your device’s Settings > Software Update menu and then click on the gear icon in the top-right corner, then on Trial version > Beta Version, then fill in your information, and click on Apply now. If your application is accepted, you will receive an OTA. But do note that there are limited slots available, so you might want to be quick.

In addition to revealing the launch date of ColorOS 12’s global ROM, Oppo also announced its software update policy for its smartphones launched from 2019. The phone maker promises three major Android updates for its Find X series, two Android updates for the Reno/F lineup, and one Android update for some A-series models.

The company also promised three years of security patches for the A-series, while the Find X/Reno/F series models get a year extra.
