Report: Suppliers now working on mini-LED display for new iMac Pro

Evidence continues to mount that Apple is hard at work on a new iMac Pro.

Supply chain analyst Ross Young, who also predicted that display suppliers were working on a mini-LED display for a new 27-inch iMac Pro, shared a paywalled article from Digitimes that corroborates the analyst’s predictions.

According to the report, suppliers have already begun parts production for the mini-LED display. The report says that things are being shipped in “small volume,” a likely move as the iMac Pro is more of a niche computer for professional users.

Young’s report from earlier this month predicted that Apple will release a new iMac Pro in 2022 with a 27-inch mini-LED display. He said that the display will also feature a 120Hz display which would bring the iMac on par with the latest MacBook Pro models.

In a new report from Display Supply Chain Consultants, supply chain analyst Ross Young had a number of predictions about what to expect from Apple over the next few years. Among a number of predictions, the analyst says that we should expect a new 27-inch iMac Pro with a mini-LED display and 120Hz refresh rate in the spring of 2022.

That would result in an iMac Pro with the same display technology that currently exists in the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. If true, however, some will be disappointed as a 32-inch display was previously rumored.

Apple is also rumored to be working on a redesigned Mac Pro, but it is still unclear when that model could be released.
